The Queens Botanical Garden

Sustainable landscapes

Rainwater flows into the Biotope where it is cleaned and filtered by the roots of native wetland plants and the soil they grow in. The water is then stored and used in the garden's fountain and waterways.
Geothermal heating- uses the earth's constant temperature to provide seasonal heating and cooling.
Learning about sustainable materials: bamboo and maple walls, recycled carpet, low VOC paint, fly ash cement floors, rooftop photovoltaic cells
The toilet only uses 3-6 ounces of recycled water to flush.

  1. This building is very "green." OUr school should be more like this. I learned many things about being "green." I was amazed and interested in this trip.
