8th grade: Heredity Virtual Lab

How are traits passed from parents to offspring?

What is the difference between a genotype and a phenotype?
What was the ratio that we observed in the third generation?

  1. The heredity virtual lab was a great way to get used to using the punnet square. My creature turned out not the way I expected.

  2. A genotype is the genetic make-up of an organism. Like the allele combonation that created the phenotype for each organism. A phenotype is the physical appearance of a gene, like for the nose or fur of our organism. In the third generation we noticed a 3:1 ratio, Gregor Mendel discovered this. A recessive trait will always show up in the third generation. NO MATTER WHAT.
