Ms. Lindsay this link is very useful. I now learned the proper way to measure the mass of an object using a triple beam balance. Before, I never used to clear the scale, meaning that I would not place the marks back to 0. I would of continued doing the wrong this. Now I learned that you must restart and clear the scale before you measure the mass of another object.
The triple beam balance is a measuring instrument that scientists use to measure the mass of an object. The unit on the balance is grams. These are the steps to control a triple beam balance. 1. Take off any weights on the platform. 2. Set all the slides to zero.(If still not on zero, adjust the zero adjustment knob located under the platform.) 3. Place the object on the platform. 4. Move all the slides so that the lines on the end of the balance meet. 5. Record the weight in grams.
If you are measuring the mass of water.... 1. Measure the water in the container. 2. Measure the container without the water. 3. Subtract the measurement of the water with the container by the measurement of the container.

Yusuf, you did not state what grams were used to measure,( the volume of an object). Grams are used to measure the volume of an object using the metric system.
