Measurement

What would life be like without standard units of measurement?

What scientific instruments are used to measure the following (also indicate the standard units of meaurement):
1. temperature
2. mass
3. volume (capacity)
4. distance/length
5. time

  1. Life would be different if we didn't have standard units of measurements. If you buy potatoes and there was no scale, they just scamed you!!

    The scientific instruments that are used to measure the following are :

    . Temperature = thermostat- fahrenheit/celsuis

    . Mass = grams- g
    . Volume = beaker
    . Distance/ length = meters(cen. milli.)
    . Time = seconds

  2. 1.themometer-degrees celcuis
    2.triple beam balance-grams
    3.graudated cylinder-liters
    4.ruler-centimeters
    5.stopwatch-secs.

  3. Life will be very hard without standard unit of measurment because we won't be able to find out if you are over weigh or how many bananas do we have or how many monkeys are in the zoo.
    Temperature = Thermometer = Kelvin,Fahrenheit, and Celsius
    Mass = Triple Beam Balance = Grams and pounds
    Volume = graduated Cylinder = Liter
    Distance = Ruler = Meter and Feet
    Time = Watch = Second

  4. Life would be very different wihtout standard units of measurements because then every body would have their own form of measuring, resulting in difficulties in things like shopping.

    Temperature - thermometer - Celsius/Fahrenheit
    Mass - Triple Beam Balance - Grams/Kilograms
    Volume - Graduated Cylinder - Liter
    Distance - Ruler/Tape Measure - Meter, Centimeter
    Time - Clock - Seconds

  5. life without units of measurement would be very tough because you would not be able to find such things such as length, hieght, weight, etc.
    temperature:thermometer:celsius:
    mass:triple beam balance:grams
    volume:graduated cylinder:liters
    distance:ruler:meters or feet
    time:watch:seconds

  6. lIFE WOULD BE CHAOUS. eVERYONE WOULD HAVE DIFFERENT MEASUREMENTS. WE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DO MATH, AND SCIENCE.wE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO SHOP FOR THINGS WE BUY IN POUNDS, AND LENGHT, HEIGHT, AND ETC.
    TEMPERATURE: tHERMOMETER: DEGREE CELCIUS IN SCIENCE AND FAHRENHEIT ALSO KELVIN
    MASS: BALANCE SCALE: GRAMS
    VOLUME: GRADUATED CYLINDER: MILLILETERS
    DISTANCE: RULER: INCHES, FEET, YARDS, MILES, KILOMETERS, METERS,
    TIME: CLOCK: SECONDS AND MINUTE

  7. ALSO VICTOR TEMPERATURE ISN'T ONLY DEGREE CELSIUS BUT FAHRENHEIT AND KELVIN
    AND MILLILITERS IS THE UNIT OF MEASUREMENT OF GRADUATED CYLINDER
    DISTANCE CAN ALSO BE KILOMETERS, MILES, YARDS AND INCHES
    finally VICTOR THE UNIT OF MEASUREMENT FOR CLOCK IS SECONDS AND MINUTES

  8. Without a standard unit of measurement, our lives would not be accuate. Everywhere we go, there will be a different kind a measurement which will end up getting confusing about converting.
    temperature->thermometer->celsius
    mass->triple beam balance->grams
    volume->graduated cylinder->liter
    distance->ruler/measuring tape->meters
    time->watch->seconds

  9. Life would be very difficult because we would not be able to scale things or calculate how many of each objects we have. Without it, it would be very confusing to communicate ideas around the world.
    Temperature-thermometer-Celsius
    Mass-triple beam balance-grams
    Volume-graduated cylinder-millimeters
    Distance-meter stick-meter
    Time-watch-seconds

  10. Life without standard units of measurement would be very difficult. This is because then everyone will have there own units of measurement.

    length meter (m) ruler
    volume liter (L) graduated cylinder
    mass gram (g) triple beam balance
    temperature celsius (c) thermometer
    time seconds (s) clock, watch

  11. Life would not be fair without standard untis. Standars units are important. If we didnt have standard units then, the measurements would not be accurate. Everyone in the world has a diffrent way of measuring.

  12. Temperature- Thermometer= Degrees Celsius(degrees C)
    Volume- Graduated Cylinder= Milliliters(mL)
    Distance- meter stick= meters(m)
    Mass- Triple Beam Balance= Grams(g)
    Time- Clock= Seconds(s)

  13. Life without standard units would be challenging. Everyone would have their own language/ units of measurement and it would be hard to understand each others units of measurement.

    Temperature- celcius [Thermometer]
    Mass- grams [balance]
    volume- liters [graduated cylinder]
    Distance/ length- centimeters, meters [meter stick]
    Time- seconds [clock]

  14. Life without standard units of measurment would be uneasy and confusing. If there werent no standard units, we would be like all the other countries; using the metric system. I think our country is very unique because we are one of the few countries who haven't completely converted to the metric system. Also, without the standard unit, we wouldn't know how to calculate, or measure things such as distance, or time.

    Here are the units and instruments used to measure the following:
    MEASUREMENT INSTRUMENT UNITS
    Volume: Graduated Cylinder>> Millileters
    Distance: Meterstick Meters(m)
    Mass: Triple beam balance grams(g)
    Time: Watch, clock seconds(s)
    Temp.: Thermometer Celcius (C with the symbol)
